Sheffield Wednesday may be in administration, but they have had their busiest January window in several years.

Despite the restrictions on Wednesday, including no transfer fees being spent and every deal being reviewed on a case-by-case basis, it’s been a busy window for Henrik Pedersen.

The Owls welcomed six new players to Hillsborough. Five were loan deals until the end of the season, as well as Marvelous Nakamba joining on a free.

The busy work of the Wednesday recruitment team means they’ve recorded their busiest window in six years.

The six arrivals at Sheffield Wednesday tops the charts for the number of signings in the same month in the past six years, according to research by Betsson.

The only time they came close to that figure was in January 2022 and 2024. In both of those windows, the Owls signed four players.

In the window of January 2022, the club signed Harlee Dean, Jordan Storey, Tyreece John-Jules, and Nathaniel Méndez-Laing. Sadly, those additions couldn’t help Wednesday to promotion out of League One.
