Sheffield Wednesday’s Player of the Month has been announced, with no real shock at who won the award.

Despite already being relegated to League One, the Owls’ performances on the field certainly showed signs of improvement.

Wednesday picked up one point against, a home draw against Watford that they were unlucky not to get all three from. They lost their other three games, but their performances were positive in each.

One reason for their improved performances is the form found by the March Player of the Month, Jerry Yates.

On loan Luton Town forward Yates picked up nearly 60% of the votes in the monthly vote, shared the club on their website.

The 29-year-old pipped the ever-reliable Svante Ingelsson and Jamal Lowe to the award, with the pair finishing second and third respectively.

The Doncaster-born striker scored his first Sheffield Wednesday goal against Southampton at the very end of February. That goal set him up for a fine March goal return.

Yates scored two goals in four games for the Owls. His goals came against his former team, Derby County, as well as in the Owls’ draw against Watford.
