The timing of the game was an issue – and out of anyone other than TV production hands – with Leanne Crichton’s side playing against City at Ibrox while there was a game going on at Livingston as Russell Martin got his first league win as Rangers boss.

The crossover in times would not have helped the cause of the women’s side but even without that there has been a pressing headache over just how to attract supporters into games.

No official attendance was offered last Sunday afternoon but an estimated guess would have struggled to have put the numbers at more than 300 – and for clarity that is two zeros on the end there, not three. The optics in a stadium that holds 50,000 is not good with the echoey shouts reminiscent of games that were played out immediately post Covid pandemic.
