This comes following a controversial derby incident in Turkey.

Cerny's team, Besiktas, seemed to be heading for a 0-0 draw against Fenerbahce on Sunday.

However, the hosts were given a penalty during stoppage time.

Besiktas complained that the foul was outside the box, and replays appeared to agree, but VAR did not intervene.

Kerem Akturkoglu scored the penalty, giving Fenerbahce a valuable win and a chance to keep up with Galatasaray at the top of the table.

This left Besiktas bitterly frustrated.

The official Besiktas social media accounts posted images of the suspected foul, describing the penalty decision as "scandalous" and called the officials "labour thieves."

Cerny shared this on his own account and now faces a charge from the Turkish FA.

The charge against him reads: “Vaclav Cerny, a football player of Besiktas A.S. Club, has been referred to the PFDK without precaution in accordance with Article 38 of the Football Disciplinary Instruction due to 'statements aimed at damaging the reputation of football' in his post published on his official social media account (Instagram) on 06.04.2026 after the match.”
