Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez has been hailed as "excellent" by former Arsenal player Alex Iwobi.

The Ibrox stopper made his debut for Nigeria during the last international break, playing against Iran and Jordan.

His impressive performances caught the attention of Fulham star Iwobi, who praised Fernandez's composure and impact.

Iwobi said: "I thought Emmanuel Fernandez was excellent in his first two games.

"Along with Chibuike Nwaiwu, he showed composure and made a really good impact against a physically demanding opponent.

"He did well and looked very solid."

Fernandez, who moved to Rangers from Peterborough United in the summer, has impressed for the Glasgow club this season.

He added: "It was a good performance. The main thing is that we won because that gives us a confidence boost."

Fernandez has been tipped in some quarters for a move at the end of the season, after only joining Rangers last summer from Peterborough United.
