Former Huddersfield Town midfielder Ben Wiles says his move to MK Dons has “come at the right time” after opting to make the switch to the League Two outfit.

Wiles departed Town at the back end of last week to join the Dons for an undisclosed fee, with the 26-year-old going straight into the starting line-up to make his debut for his new side in their FA Cup third-round tie against Oxford United on Friday evening.

The midfielder made 110 appearances and netted 12 goals for the Terriers during his time at the club, and reflecting on his spell with Town, Wiles told his new club: “I spent two-and-a-half years at Huddersfield. I enjoyed my time there, there were some good moments, but obviously some low, but I understand football and sometimes you have to change, and it’s come at the right time.”

Discussing what appealed to him about making the switch to his new side, the midfielder added: “Just the challenge, and the potential of where the club can go.
