Diego Leon rose through the ranks at Cerro Porteno before catching the eye of Manchester United.

The Red Devils reached an agreement with the Paraguayan club worth £6.5m for the young left-back in January, and the player arrived at the Theatre of Dreams this summer.

United also signed Patrick Dorgu in January, and the Danish left-back remains the first choice under Amorim at the moment.

Leon, as such, has struggled for opportunities this season and is yet to make his senior debut.

Amorim taking it slow with Leon

Leon was an unused substitute in the games against Grimsby Town, Manchester City, Brentford and Sunderland in this campaign.

The Paraguayan, however, has featured for United’s Under-21 side this season, logging 108 minutes of action so far.

Having arrived in Europe for the first time in his career, Ruben Amorim is understandably allowing the 18 year old time to acclimatise to the rigours of the league.

Leon has now opened up about his move to the Theatre of Dreams.
