Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has finally broken his silence on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s public remarks about manager Ruben Amorim.

The United co-owner recently stated that he intends to judge Amorim only after three years in charge.

It was a bold claim in a sport where managers are often sacked after just a few bad weeks.

Fernandes echoed Ratcliffe’s sentiment, showing clear public support for the under-pressure Portuguese tactician.

He said on Sky Sports: “If Sir Jim Ratcliffe shares the players’ opinion, namely that the manager is the right person for this role, then it’s a good thing to have two groups of people who share the same view.”

Man United have endured a rocky start to the campaign, losing three of their opening seven Premier League fixtures.

Their lowest point came with an embarrassing Carabao Cup exit at the hands of fourth-tier Grimsby Town.

The 3-1 defeat to Brentford last month put Amorim’s position under intense pressure.

However, the 2-0 victory over Sunderland eased some of the pressure on him.

Ratcliffe’s public endorsement was a timely vote of confidence, but even that goodwill could fade quickly if results do not improve.
