Rangers need to pick up pace if they want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Ibrox, as he’s being lined up by Sweden.

That’s according to Nettavisen, who cover the situation today. It is looking likely that current Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson will be sacked after a disastrous international break. And that could see them move for Rangers options.

And that could mean bad news for Rangers. Solskjaer is currently the second favourite in the odds for the vacant manager’s position. The manager’s spot at Ibrox remains empty after the sacking of Russell Martin. Steven Gerrard turned down the opportunity to return to Rangers this week.

That led to Solskjaer being pushed further up the odds list. If he is a serious candidate, though, it appears they may need to move quickly.

Sweden could part with Jon Dahl Tomasson as quickly as today. His side are currently bottom of their World Cup qualifying group. Their latest defeat was a 1-0 loss to Kosovo at home.

Rangers could face competition

JDT’s job is severely at risk as a result. Sweden chiefs are holding an EGM today and are likely to discuss his future at that.
