The Rangers board are finalising a deal to appoint Kevin Muscat as the club's new head coach.

As it stands, however, he is expected to remain in charge of his current team, Shanghai Port, until the end of the Chinese season on November 22.

That would mean Muscat would miss Rangers' next eight fixtures.

These include the Scottish Premiership game against Dundee United on October 18, and the away trip to Brann in the Europa League on October 23.

The team also has league games against Kilmarnock and Hibernian, a Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Celtic, and a Europa League match against Roma.

They then head to Dens Park to face Dundee on Sunday, November 9, before returning to action at home to Livingston on Saturday, November 22.

If he sees out the campaign in Asia and gets the Ibrox gig, the Australian's first game in charge of Rangers could come on Thursday, November 27 at home to Braga in the Europa League.
