Colombia manager Néstor Lorenzo has explained why Wolves winger Jhon Arias was left out of the squad for the upcoming friendlies against Mexico and Canada. He confirmed the decision was based on his need to adapt to life in England. 

AS Colombia reported the Argentine coach made it clear the winger remains part of his long-term plans. The Wolves player is expected to return for the November fixtures against New Zealand and Nigeria.

When Lorenzo announced his 25-man list, Arias’ absence raised questions in Colombia. The manager explained that his omission was related to his adjustment period at Wolves.

“Jhon Arias is adapting to his new club, to the Premier League. It’s a difficult league, and his team needs him at 100%, so I explained it to him,” Lorenzo said. “He’ll surely be here in November.”

The 28-year-old joined Wolves in the summer after a successful spell at Fluminense, but has yet to establish himself as a consistent starter. In recent interviews, Arias admitted that the Premier League feels “faster” and “more demanding” than what he experienced in Brazil. He insisted he’s learning quickly.
