Wolves academy manager Jonathan Hunter-Barrett is a contender to become Rangers' head of academy.

The 35-year-old youth football specialist is under consideration to land the key job at Auchenhowie, as reported by The Rangers Review.

Hunter-Barrett was promoted to head of academy coaching at the Premier League club back in 2019 and stepped up to academy manager in 2022.

He is now thought to be in the running to move north to take on the top academy role at Rangers, which has been vacant since April 2024.

Zeb Jacobs was the last permanent head of academy before he left to join Feyenoord last year. Zurab Amirian assumed the role of head of academy football but later also joined Feyenoord.

David McCallum has worked as interim head of academy since Kevin Thelwell joined Rangers over the summer.

It's thought no appointment has been finalised by Rangers for the head of academy post with the first-team managerial search being prioritised.
