Jermain Defoe has declared it a "no-brainer" to return to Rangers.

The former Ibrox star, who is currently without a club, is eager to further his coaching career.

This comes after a stint at Tottenham's academy.

With Russell Martin's sacking, and coaches Mike Williamson and Matt Gill also leaving, Defoe believes the time is right for a return.

Defoe has previously expressed a desire to rejoin the club in some capacity.

He stopped short of specifying whether this would be as a manager or coach, but made clear his enthusiasm for the idea.

He told Sky Sports News: "I’ve done all my coaching badges and if I got an opportunity to come back to that club to help this group of players then it would be a no-brainer."

Defoe reflected on his time at the club, stating: "It’s well documented, the time I had there and winning arguably the most important league in the club’s history."

He added: "I understood when you put on a Rangers shirt you have to win and the demands and the standards."...
