After last night, I think every one of us is looking at the Celtic team—the management, the coaching staff, everything—and asking the same question: Where do we go from here?

We clearly have enough to get past our domestic rivals and win the SPFL title. I genuinely believe we’ll be hoisting that trophy again come the end of the season. However, in European terms, we’re miles off it. The gap between where we are and where we want to be is enormous. Only a radical, dramatic left-turn is going to get us out of this mess.

That starts with the squad.

You only need to look at it to see the imbalance. It’s lopsided, and that has to be fixed. The problem? For years now, our managers have been obsessed with the top half of the pitch. They’ve focused on flair players and attacking shapes while the defence has been left to rot. As a result, that unit needs a rebuild—urgently.

What’s more, it’s now perfectly clear that the midfield needs rebuilt too. And the problem there? It’s packed with too many players of the same type. That stifles the way we play. It restricts what we can do.
