The Scottish FA's Key Match Incident panel believes Auston Trusty should have been sent off against Rangers last weekend.

The Celtic defender received a yellow card for his challenge on Rangers' Jack Butland, arriving late and landing a boot on the goalkeeper's head after he had both hands on the ball.

Referee Nick Walsh awarded a yellow card but was not asked to review his decision by the VAR.

Rangers players were furious at the decision, and the club contacted the Scottish Football Association (SFA) this week for clarification on the incident and the general officiating of the game.

If Trusty had been sent off, it would have levelled the numbers after Thelo Aasgaard's earlier red card.

Danny Rohl's side managed to take the game to extra-time, but the numerical disadvantage eventually proved decisive.

The KMI panel has now given their verdict on the incident, with the majority agreeing that it was the wrong decision.

On Walsh's decision to give a yellow card, the panel voted 2:1 against him, and it was the same outcome on VAR's failure to intervene.
