Former Rangers player, Paulo Vanoli, has been appointed as the new manager of Fiorentina.

The Serie A club announced his appointment this afternoon, as he succeeds Stefano Pioli.

The Italian team have not had the best start to the season and have failed to win any of their opening ten league games, sitting bottom of the table with just four points.

They have now turned to Vanoli, who was a player at the club between 2000 and 2002, before moving to Bologna and then Ibrox.

His time in Glasgow was not particularly successful, with no trophy wins across the two seasons he was there.

He was most recently in charge of Torino, guiding them to a finish of 11th last season before being dismissed.

Vanoli has also managed Venezia, Spartak Moscow, and several Italian youth teams.
