In-form Leicester City forward Jake Evans is “in our plans for the future”, manager Marti Cifuentes has said, casting doubt over an imminent first-team call-up for the teenager.

Evans, who signed his first professional contract with City last week, has netted six goals in his last seven games for the Under-21s.

That form, combined with the struggles of City’s more senior strikers, has seen Evans become a hot topic at the club, with many fans hoping that Cifuentes will turn to the youngster to solve the first team’s woes up front.

This season, City’s three senior strikers Jordan Ayew, Patson Daka and Julian Carranza have scored just one goal between them in the opening 12 matches of the Championship season.

But it does not sound like Evans will be called up to the replace them any time soon, with Cifuentes framing his importance in the context of City’s future.
