Barry Ferguson believes Danny Rohl has to go 'back to basics' to turn things around at Rangers.

This comes after the Ibrox club were defeated 3-0 by Brann in the Europa League during the German's first match as manager.

Ferguson, who took the Rangers job on an interim basis earlier this year, believes Rohl must make his team harder to beat.

He said [RecordSport]: "I think Rohl has to strip this team back to basics.

"We’ve heard a lot about philosophies and rigid tactical ideals these past few months.

"But none of that matters if you’re losing silly goals and dropping points week after week.

"And yet again I felt Rangers made it just far too easy for Brann the other night.

"So forget all about this talk about building from the back and principles of play.

"What Rohl has to do first and foremost is make this Rangers team hard to beat.

"Because if they can’t do that, starting against Kilmarnock tomorrow, then there could be a lot more pain to come."
