Jan Bednarek ended his eight-year spell at Southampton to join FC Porto in July.

The centre-back’s agent earlier explained his client had several options across Europe and even in Saudi Arabia last summer. However, he prioritised a move to the Primeira Liga side.

Bednarek’s decision to leave Southampton for Porto has worked out well for him. He’s starred for the Dragons, who are yet to experience defeat this season.

Porto face Nottingham Forest in the Europa League later today. This will see the 29-year-old return to England for the first time since leaving the Saints.

The Poland international spoke to reporters at a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, and O Jogo have relayed his comments.

He initially talked about what his teammates can expect against Nottingham Forest, who appointed Sean Dyche as their new manager earlier this week.

O Jogo explain the defender was mainly fighting to avoid relegation at Southampton. They add his ambitions have now changed at Porto, which is to compete for trophies. However, Bednarek insists his winning mentality was always there.
