LEO Scienza has issued an apology to Saints fans following their 2-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers.

Scienza scored his first for Southampton to put them ahead at Ewood Park before two second-half goals flipped the game.

Southampton’s players were booed and questioned by fans following the final whistle, while the Brazilian was singled out for praise.

Scienza attempted to jeer the supporters after they chanted “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” at Southampton’s squad.

The defeat left Saints 20th in the Championship, three points off the relegation places and seven behind the play-off spots.

Summer signing Scienza took to social media on Saturday evening to address the club’s poor start to the Championship season.

On instagram, Scienza wrote: “S*** situation for all of us, we have to do better, much better.

“The only way of changing this is sticking together, for the club! Sorry for this moment, and thank you for the endless support.”
