As the Blackburn Rovers fans sang for the removal of their much-despised owners, the Venkys, Saints fans aimed their ire at all associated with their club.

Chants of "sacked in the morning", "sack the board" and "you're not fit to wear the shirt" rang out in the strongest incident of vocal dissatisfaction this season.

It followed Southampton's latest on-pitch capitulation, as they suffered defeat from a winning position for the second time this week.

This was also their 50th league game since winning promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs. Southampton have won just four of those fixtures.
