Leicester City are preparing to take “important next steps” as their search for a new chief executive continues.

City chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha has taken over the chief executive role on an interim basis following the exit of Susan Whelan this month.

Whelan had 14 years in the role and so a new arrival, especially one from outside the club and outside of King Power, could mark a new chapter for City.

Writing in his programme notes for the first time since taking on the role of acting chief executive, Top said: “I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to get closer to the operation across the club in recent weeks, to recognise what’s working well and where we can be stronger.

“Together with the club’s leadership team, we’ve been focusing on maintaining stability day to day while preparing to take some important next steps in how we move forward, which I look forward to sharing with you.
