Drawing won’t get Leicester City far in the Championship, Marti Cifuentes said after his side threw away victory on home turf again.

City drew for the fifth game in six on Saturday night as a strong first-half showing was followed up by an underwhelming second period, Portsmouth grabbing a deserved equaliser.

Cifuentes’ side are now eight unbeaten, the second-longest undefeated run in the division, but too many stalemates are seeing them lose ground on the top two.

For the squad, failing to win after such a dominant first half meant the point they did take was not worth celebrating, a reaction the manager liked.

“There are always two ways of looking at it,” Cifuentes said. “There’s the glass half full and it’s a lot of games undefeated, but the reality is that drawing won’t get you far in this league.
