I was looking forward to watching Liverpool play PSG on Wednesday night.

I wasn’t disappointed.

I expected Liverpool to get battered and they did.

The only disappointment is that PSG didn’t win by the five or six goals they deserved, on the respective performances of the two teams.

Even the embarrassingly one-eyed vision of the former Liverpool players couldn’t prevent even them from admitting this was a humiliation. Some of them even confessing that Arne Slot had his team (the reigning Premier League champions…) set up like a non-league side playing a Premier League team in a cup competition.

Defence against attack, as Liverpool didn’t have a single shot on target the entire night, only one corner, whilst it was 18 v 3 in favour of PSG when it came to total shots.

The 2-0 final scoreline instead of an annihilation, only avoided by poor finishing, the woodwork, two clear penalties for PSG turned down, match officials helping Liverpool out, some inspired saves by the visiting keeper and so on.

Basically, PSG totally outclassed Liverpool and even Arne Slot had to hold his hands up and say how unbelievably lucky the scousers had been to not lose by a...
