Arne Slot is under serious pressure to save his job at Liverpool after a hugely disappointing campaign, both domestically and in Europe. It was only 12 months ago that the Reds were celebrating after clinching the Premier League title with seven games to go. A year later, they are in a very different situation and Slot is no longer being hailed as the hero he once was.

The former Feyenoord boss has overseen Liverpool's dismal attempt to defend their Premier League crown. They are also on the verge of crashing out of the Champions League after losing to PSG in the first leg of their quarter-final showdown. It has left them needing to overturn a two-goal deficit at Anfield in the return fixture.

Any failure to progress could blow up in Slot's face, given what has taken place behind the scenes. According to the Daily Mail, he privately told people that he would be prioritising the Champions League as far back as January.
