Sean Dyche has set the record straight regarding whether Tottenham ever contacted him and whether he would have accepted the job.

Reports over the last few weeks suggested that Spurs seriously considered hiring Sean Dyche to replace Igor Tudor as they viewed the Englishman as a ‘relegation specialist’.

There were suggestions that Tottenham wanted Dyche as an interim, but the former Burnley boss was not keen on the role.

In the end, Spurs decided to hand Roberto De Zerbi a five-year deal rather than go for another interim, with the Italian committing himself to the North London club for the long term.

The speculation grew when Dyche was spotted in a pub in London a week and a half ago, leading to suggestions that he was in conversations with Spurs.

However, the 54-year-old has now clarified that he had no interactions with the North London club’s hierarchy when he was in the capital city.

When asked about the speculation linking him with the Tottenham job, Dyche told talkSPORT: “I spend a lot of time in London, not working but socially, and I just happened to be here at the same time the Tottenham job opened.
