James Maddison has not made a single appearance for Tottenham Hotspur this season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in a pre-season friendly against Newcastle United in South Korea in August 2025.

The England international was Spurs’ second joint-top goalscorer in the Premier League last campaign, and they have missed his creativity, guile and goals from midfield this term. Given the seriousness of the knee injury, he was expected to miss the entire season. However, the good news for the fans is that James Maddison is seemingly in the latter stages of his rehab and could return to action before the season concludes.

Former interim head coach Igor Tudor gave this positive update on Maddison’s injury in March before he was sacked. The creative midfielder has moved into the next stage of the recovery and is back on the football pitch, aiming shots on goal.
