Glasgow City went from the celebrations of winning the Sky Sports Cup on Sunday afternoon at Fir Park to frustration at Petershill on a night of high drama in the SWPL.

Eilidh Adams scored the only goal of the game with a sumptuous second-half strike to give Hibs all three points – and cut City’s cushion over Hearts at the top of the table to just one point. It sets up a huge game on Sunday evening as City take on Hearts at Petershill. 

With Hearts emphatic 4-1 winners over Celtic at the Oriam and Rangers beating Partick Thistle 1-0, it means that there are just four points between the top four – with Eva Olid’s side breathing down the necks of a City side who have now lost back-to-back SWPL games after being unbeaten prior to their league defeat to Rangers ten days ago. 

Adams’ goal came after she lifted the ball over Lee Gibson from outside the box, but there was frustration from City that there looked to be a foul in the build-up to the goal.
