Last night, Robbie Neilson weighed in on Celtic’s season, and what he said should shame everyone at Celtic Park.
He looked at Hearts and claimed they have better attacking options than we do.
I’m not convinced Hearts are blessed with exceptional forwards, but here’s the uncomfortable truth: in this Celtic side, both Lawrence Shankland and Claudio Braga would walk into the team right now and improve it.
Everyone knows my view on signing SPFL-level players. Everyone knows how I feel about Shankland. I’ve said it often enough. I don’t rate him. But that’s not really the point anymore. The point is that, right now, he is better than what we have. Braga is better than what we have. That is not a criticism of those players. That is an indictment of us.
Every single person at Celtic should feel ashamed of that reality. Hearts having better attacking options than Celtic is not something that should ever happen. This club hasn’t just slept at the wheel this season, it has been practically unconscious. When you look at where we are, it is almost surreal.
