JOHN HUGHES, the legendary Celtic forward known as ‘Big Yogi’ in his pulverising playing days, was born on this day in 1943.

The fans’ favourite hammered in 189 strikes during his glittering career to make him the Parkhead club’s seventh all-time highest goalscorer.

In full flight, Yogi was a magical sight as he raced past astonished opponents before unleashing one of his powerful shots to terrify rival keepers.
