Dominik Szoboszlai has been branded ‘daft’ for making a ‘stupid decision’ in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.

The Hungarian had a very eventful game at Anfield as he opened the scoring in stunning fashion with a beautiful free-kick on 74 minutes.

It looked like he may have scored a brilliant winner, but City turned things around late on through Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.

Silva nipped in behind to poke home a Haaland header, then the Norwegian scored from the penalty spot after Alisson Becker brought down Matheus Nunes.

It looked like there had been a third goal for the visitors even deeper into stoppage time, but it was chalked off in bizarre circumstances.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker went up for a corner and stayed up even as the game returned to open play, allowing City to break and Rayan Cherki to score from the halfway line.

As the ball rolled towards the goal, Szoboszlai raced after it with Haaland and tugged the Norwegian back, before the City man then hauled down the Hungarian.
