Matt O’Riley received a typical welcome back to Lancing after half a season in the south of France.

The Albion midfielder trained in the wind and rain after his return from the sunshine of Marseille.

He was part of the group preparing to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.

O’Riley was a regular in teams during pre-season and spoke about how the No.10 role had been slightly tailored by Hurzeler to suit his qualities.

After scoring from the penalty spot on day one against Fulham, he turned in an indifferent performance away to Everton.

He also squandered a good chance to score at Hill Dickinson Stadium, although he was not alone in that.

Albion have used Pascal Gross in a No.10 role in the last two games, similar to the position he occupied when he fist arrived from Ingolstadt back in 2017.

Georginio Rutter, who enjoys that role, was played to the right against Everton....
