Eddie Howe is hoping for a major double boost ahead of Newcastle United's trip to Crystal Palace when play resumes after a three-week break for the Magpies.

With the international break and World Cup qualifiers behind Newcastle now, there are still another 10 days to wait for the next game. This is because Newcastle's FA Cup defeat to Manchester City earlier in the campaign leaves them with a blank weekend.

However, with Newcastle now back to work, Howe could see the return of two of his stars for the crunch game with Crystal Palace. Defeat at Selhurst Park would leave Newcastle with a mountain to climb in terms of European qualifcation, but Howe's team sheet could look very different.

Indeed, Howe hopes to have Fabian Schar and Bruno Guimaraes back in contention for the trip. Both were assessed at the training ground in recent days.
