Rabbi Matondo’s agent has spoken out amid suggestions the winger could leave Rangers five months ahead of his contract expiring.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that Rangers were working to terminate Matondo’s deal, which is due to expire in July.

Matondo has endured a torrid time of things at Ibrox and has made just one league appearance this season, coming as a substitute against Aberdeen last month.

Tearing up Matondo’s contract would allow the Wales international to find a club outside of the transfer window due to becoming a free agent.

It would also ensure his wages are off Rangers‘ books for the next five months.

However, his agent has now provided some clarity on the situation.

As per Mark Hendry via Substack, Matondo’s agent has rubbished suggestions Rangers wanted to rip up his deal last month.

Exactly where this now leaves the former Schalke 04 players is unclear, but he surely accepts he is better off away from Rangers.
