First 36 minutes

What a start from the Toon!

For the first 36 minutes we were all over the reigning league champions.

Wave after wave of Newcastle attacks saw Barnes desperately unlucky to smack an effort off the post before the dam eventually burst and Gordon picked his spot, burying an effort at the Kop end to deservedly put the Toon ahead.

Goal!

The sight of the travelling Toon Army going wild at Anfield, brought hope that 30+ of misery at this place was about to be dispelled.

Anthony Gordon hadn’t scored a league goal from open play all season, hopefully this will be the first of many as he replicates his Champions League form and fires us up the table.
