Unai Emery has confirmed that Aston Villa are continuing to assess Boubacar Kamara after he suffered a knee injury last weekend.

Kamara sustained the problem early in Villa’s FA Cup third-round match against Tottenham and was forced off the pitch in the ninth minute.

He initially tried to continue after taking a blow to the knee from Joao Palhinha, but after receiving treatment from Villa’s medical staff, he hobbled off and went down the tunnel.

Scans carried out on Sunday suggested in initial assessments that Kamara could be out for two to three weeks, although further tests are ongoing now that the swelling has subsided.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Villa’s match against Everton on Sunday, Emery was asked for an update on the midfielder’s condition.

"Kamara is out, is his knee," Emery confirmed. "We are checking him and he is visiting some doctors and we are going to know about him in a few days, but is of course not available...
