The family of a man who tragically died after he was injured in a demolition site incident in Paisley is calling on Rangers fans to hold a minute's applause in his memory.

Derek Russell, 36, was rushed to hospital after the incident on Waverley Road in Foxbar on Friday morning, January 9. A trauma team including three ambulances, three fire engines and dozens of police officers were also dispatched to the scene.

Sadly the dad-of-six could not be saved and died on Saturday, January 10.

Derek's son Kai, alongside fellow Gers supporters, is calling for a minute's applause to be held in his dad's memory during the club's Scottish Cup clash against Annan Athletic this Friday night.

An Instagram post from rangers.extra55 said Derek's loved ones had reached out requesting the tribute which they hope will take place during the 36th minute, the Daily Record reports.
