Ally McCoist's son, Argyll, won't play for Auchinleck Talbot in the Scottish Cup this weekend.

The Rangers legend's boy is ineligible to play against Celtic as he is cup-tied.

Argyll McCoist was announced as a Talbot player on Christmas Eve, after a loan move from Drumchapel United.

The frontman has already featured in the same competition for Benburb, so would not be allowed to play for another team.

The rule prevents players from competing for more than one club in the same tournament.

He played in the match against Easthouses Lily in the second preliminary round.

Ally McCoist discussed the situation on talkSPORT this morning.

He said: "Cup tied. I think he’s cup tied.

"Although, what I’m going to do is, I’m going to get Eddie Howe to give him a call on the Semenyo situation just to see if he can play!

"No, but I think he’s cup tied.

"He’s gone down to Auchinleck. I’ve been down a couple of times.

"They’ve got a massive, massive game at the weekend.”
