Unai Emery is excited to unlock Alysson’s potential at Aston Villa after signing the Brazilian winger from Grêmio.

The 19-year-old has joined Villa in a deal reportedly worth around £10 million and is seen by the club as an exciting prospect.

Alysson has played just one full season of professional football for Grêmio, with his breakout campaign concluding earlier this month.

He featured in 31 of the club’s 38 league matches last season, scoring once and providing two assists. Villa are believed to view him as a long-term prospect.

“He is very young. He was developing in Brazil, really being fantastic as a young player,” Emery said of his new signing.

“He is a winger, playing on the right side with a left foot. We signed him thinking to exploit his potential as a player, as a winger.

“He has good dribbling and is usually playing on the right side offensively and defensively, physically doing good work.
