Manchester United have been named as a contender to sign AIK Fotboll’s Kevin Filling over the past week or so.

Initial claims from Germany reported the Red Devils were in concrete negotiations with AIK Fotboll. However, this was quickly dismissed by the Swedish press.

At the weekend, Fotboll Direkt reported Manchester United have initiated contact with AIK Fotboll for the 16-year-old. It was also stated Aston Villa have joined their Premier League rivals in the transfer race.

The English clubs don’t want to pay more than €3m while the youngster’s team are asking for €5m.

A fresh report from Fotboll Direkt relays that and explains Filling won’t be able to join Manchester United in January. He can’t move to the UK until he turns 18 years of age in November 2026, although a deal can be agreed ahead of then.

The outlet has also relayed comments made by the player about these links.

When asked how it’s been to hear these rumours, he said: “It’s nothing special. I don’t know much. I’m focused on AIK and that’s where all my focus lies. So, I’ll just continue there.”
