Former referee Bobby Madden has given his opinion on the three major decisions made by the referee during the Premier Sports Cup semi-final between Celtic and Rangers.

Thelo Aasgaard was dismissed in the first half for a late challenge on Anthony Ralston.

He was attempting to control the ball when he caught Ralston.

Auston Trusty then escaped a possible red card after catching Jack Butland on the head following the goalkeeper's collection of the ball.

Rangers were awarded a penalty in the second half, which was converted by James Tavernier, after Ralston was penalised for handball.

Madden believes referee Nick Walsh got two out of the three decisions correct but should have produced a red card for Trusty's incident with Butland.

On Aasgaard's straight red, Madden said: "Correct red card.

"No intent, but the actions endangered the safety of the opponent.

"Serious foul play."

Regarding Trusty's yellow card, which was confirmed by VAR, Madden stated the defender should have been sent off for violent conduct.
