Rangers chiefs will demand answers from the Scottish FA over the decision to only show Auston Trusty a yellow card in their Premier Sports Cup semi-final loss to Celtic.

It's understood Ibrox officials will request a formal explanation over Nick Walsh's decision at Hampden on Sunday.

Trusty was booked by Walsh, with the decision backed by VAR, after he caught goalkeeper Jack Butland in the face with his boot.

Butland had raced out of goal to collect the ball before Trusty appeared to flick out his boot at the Rangers goalkeeper.

Rangers had been reduced to ten men earlier in the first half, with Thelo Aasgaard shown a straight red card.

The midfielder was ordered off after his attempt to control the ball saw him connect with Anthony Ralston's thigh with his studs.

Walsh produced a red card with the decision again backed by the VAR team at Clydesdale House.
