The Motherwell player, who used to play for Rangers, was incensed by the incident at Hampden when Trusty made contact with goalkeeper Jack Butland.

This occurred in first-half stoppage time when Butland had possession of the ball on the ground, and Trusty flicked his foot out, connecting with the goalkeeper.

The force of the contact was minimal, yet replays confirmed Butland was in control of the ball before Trusty made his motion towards him.

Walsh gave a yellow card to Trusty for the offence, but Halliday was resolute that a red card was deserved.

Halliday branded the decision as "f***ing laughable" during the live stream of Open Goal watchalong on Sunday.
