Rangers and Celtic were involved in another dramatic Old Firm showdown in Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup semi-final.

James Tavernier’s penalty cancelled out Johnny Kenny’s opener at Hampden Park, but Celtic prevailed 3-1 over Rangers after extra time.

That only tells half the story, though, as Thelo Aasgaard was shown a straight red card, while Anthony Ralston was fortunate to avoid a second yellow for a penalty he conceded.

Meanwhile, James McFadden was left shocked on punditry duty as he felt Auston Trusty should have been red carded for Celtic after catching the head of Jack Butland.

All the above could lead to some falling out in the days after the explosive affair, which was a far cry from the goalless Old Firm draw in August.

Nick Walsh was the man who oversaw things on the field, but it is fair to say he did not cover himself in glory as numerous questionable calls were made.

The penalty incident in particular generated plenty of debate. While some argued it should not have been awarded, plenty thought it should have.
