Already 1-0 down, the Ibrox side were reduced to ten men during the first half of the Premier Sports Cup semi-final when Thelo Aasgaard saw red for a high challenge on Anthony Ralston.

They managed to get themselves back into the game when Ralston conceded a penalty for handball after blocking Dkeidi Gassama's shot, and James Tavernier converted from the spot.

Rangers missed further chances but managed to put pressure on Celtic despite being a man down.

The numbers could have been evened up when Auston Trusty caught Jack Butland in the head with a late challenge, but the defender was only shown a yellow card.

Celtic went on to win the game 3-1 in extra-time, with Callum McGregor and Callum Osmand on target.
