Danny Rohl tasted defeat in his first Old Firm as Rangers manager as Celtic prevailed in Sunday’s thrilling Premier Sports Cup semi-final.

Celtic were 3-1 winners at Hampden Park thanks to extra-time goals from Callum McGregor and Callum Osmand.

That came after James Tavernier’s penalty cancelled out Johnny Kenny’s goal in normal time in what was an action-packed contest.

Rangers had Thelo Aasgaard sent off in the first half and, while they put up a brave fight to take the game all the way, they ultimately did not have enough to pick up the win.

Rohl made a big Rangers selection call for the clash, with Celtic boss Martin O’Neill spotted going ballistic at one certain incident.

However, it was opposite number Rohl who was left fuming not long after at a decision that did not go in his side’s favour.

There was a big moment in the first half when Celtic’s Auston Trusty left a foot in and caught the head of Jack Butland.

Nick Walsh was well positioned and wasted no time in awarding a yellow card, which VAR saw no reason to flag for a second look.
