After suffering a concussion in Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, Lucas Bergvall could be ruled out for several matches.

The Swede suffered a head injury in the early minutes of Saturday’s London derby and failed the on-pitch concussion test.

Despite his protestations, the midfielder was deemed not fit to continue by the Tottenham medical staff and had to be withdrawn in the seventh minute.

Thomas Frank has admitted that losing Bergvall so soon against Chelsea affected his side’s game plan, and the Dane now also faces the prospect of being without the teenager for several matches.

As per the FA’s rulebook, a player suffering from a concussion needs to be evaluated in the aftermath and is not allowed to engage in any sporting activity over the next one to two days.

There is an expectation of a gradual return-to-play (GRTP) that can last as long as 21 days, including an initial 14-day rest period.

As a result, the teenager is almost certain to miss the upcoming Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night, while he could also be a doubt for the club’s next Premier League clash against Man United next Saturday.
