Thomas Frank has just taken a big step towards reuniting with Ivan Toney at Tottenham, according to a journalist.

There has been plenty of speculation suggesting that Tottenham may be prepared to offer Toney a route back to the Premier League, but the move has been deemed unlikely by a number of sources.

Earlier this week, journalist Dean Jones revealed that Toney is not in a hurry to return to the Premier League and is happy to remain at Al-Ahli.

This was followed up by another update from Pete O’Rourke, who said that the Saudi club have no intention of selling the Tottenham target in January.

However, what will give Spurs fans hope is that Frank said that he would be happy to work with Toney at Tottenham in the fan forum held earlier this month.

Former Mirror journalist James Davies has now revealed on social media that the Tottenham head coach has had a phone call with the former Brentford striker.

He further asserted that Toney wants to return to Europe and may be allowed to do so on loan in January.

Toney is not the only experienced centre-forward that Tottenham are allegedly eyeing ahead of the January window.
