Bruno Guimaraes has revealed details of a terrifying plane journey that saw his flight forced to turn around due to a shattered window, but confessed he slept through the entire ordeal. The Newcastle star and his club team-mate Joelinton were travelling ahead of international duty when the Brazilian pair witnessed their flight from Amsterdam to South Korea forced to return due to a serious mechanical failure.

It formed part of a gruelling 12,000-mile journey that ultimately saw them board separate aircraft to Seoul. Guimaraes assisted Brazil in thrashing South Korea before they were shocked by Japan and admits he remained completely oblivious to the emergency reversal because he was fast asleep - until it was all clarified to him afterwards.

He revealed: "Two windows broke in the middle of the flight. We were in the middle of the air and could not stop, so we had to fly back. So we lost a few hours to it. Amsterdam to Amsterdam... I've never seen this before.
