Celtic is a club that runs on basic dysfunction and incoherence. I don’t know how anyone can acknowledge that fact. Yet, they still expect that the next January transfer window will deliver some kind of radical, season-saving exercise.

When we went into the January transfer window two years ago, Rodgers had specific needs that he wanted met. However, the board didn’t do it. He got Adam Idah literally on the last day, at the last minute. As it turned out, Idah was capable of doing what Rodgers needed him to do, and that’s why we won the double.

But that was down to luck and the manager’s ability to spot certain qualities in his game. It was not because of any ambition shown by our board.

I can tell you right now how the next window will go. The January transfer window will open with a lot of people optimistic and waiting for the problems to be addressed. It will end with those same people angry and frustrated, still waiting for the problems to be addressed.
